(Governers Island. The Island jump-off from Manhattan)
If you live in New York and can’t get away for Memorial Day, try to surprise your honey with a day escape to Governers Island. We can’t 100% guarantee it has romance written all over it since it’s a beer fest, but then again, your girlfriend could be a beer connoisseur, right? Fear not, there will be plenty of good grub with that beer as well.
The Brewers’ PicNyc is a two-day celebration on May 29th and 30th, from 11am-5pm. It’s created by Food Karma Projects and the gathering is essentially a mix of street food, craft beer and music on Governors Island’s historic Colonels’ Row.
A portion of the proceeds will go to Added Value Farm, which is a sustainable farm on Governors Island. This is Governors Island’s official 2011 kickoff, and the unofficial beginning of summer.
Food Vendors include: Australian Meat Pies, Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, Brooklyn Farmacy, Event Spoon, Fette Sau, Jimmy’s No. 43, and Luke’s Lobster among others. Beer Vendors include Goose Island’s summer beers, Brooklyn Brewery, Kelso, Palm, Sixpoint, and Two Brother’s to mention a few only.
