This weekend we face another battle in that old school LA debate: West Side vs. East Side. Frankly, whichever side you choose you’re going to end up a winner.

On the East Side The Silver Lake Jubilee will be kicking off the street festival season. The Jubilee has a killer two-day-two-stages line up of local bands, a dope bunch of vendors (our friends at The Cinefamily will have a booth!), food trucks galore, and a literary stage. It’s being billed as good family fun and they’re doing the environment a good turn by banning water bottles - bring your own water containers and fill them for free. You’ll also be helping the community: Proceeds benefit the Los Angeles Arts and Athletics Alliance.
The West Side has The Venice Art Walk where you’ll gain access to more than 50 studios on the “Art Walk” proper, as well as several pop-up galleries and special exhibits, plus a shot at more than 400 original works in the Silent Art Auction. This year they’re also planning a a community fair on Abbot Kinney that will feature music, food, and vendors. The best part of the Venice Art Walk is pure the voyeuristic joy of walking through artists’ houses and studios. Some of those houses are a design nerd’s wet dream. Oh, yeah, proceeds for the Venice Art Walk benefit The Venice Family Clinic which offers free quality health care to LA residents.
Tough choice, right?
