Marilyn as Jacqueline Kennedy by Bert Stern, (…From “The Lost Sitting”, 1962)
When it comes to design and art, I just get weak in the knees. You can only imagine what it’s like for me when I walk the halls of The Standards. Today, I received wind of the most GENIUS new online auction sale brought to you by the only name in all the finer aesthetic things in life….artnet auctions.
Today, they are launching a new 20th and 21st century design department headed by one of my favorite men in the industry, Brent Lewis, former gallery director at Moss. The new department will focus on all movements from the two centuries including American mid-century design and Italian modernism. DYING! The international roster of designers highlights historical works by Marcel Breuer, Ed Wormley, Hans Wegner, Pierre Jeanneret, Gio Ponti, and Ettore Sottsass and contemporary works by Ron Arad, Gaetano Pesce, Maria Pergay, and Tokujin Yoshioka. Just died again.
To give you a taste of the inaugural auctions to come, see below…
Ron Arad, Before Summer, Est. USD 130,000–160,000
Gio Ponti and Paolo di Poli, Enameled Swan, Est. USD 1,800–2,200
Gaetano Pesce, Monumental Resin Bowl, Est. USD 8,000–10,000
Tokujin Yoshioka, Honey Pop Chair, Est. USD 7,000–9,000
Ettore Sottsass, Totem Rangoon, Est. USD 16,000–18,000

If you don’t know what any of the above, just click here and figure it out. It’s in your best interest, otherwise, I wouldn’t be bringing it to you.
