Tonight - Joaquin Claussell at Le Bain

Jun 29 2011

Tonight is a special night at Le Bain. On May 10th, The Standard New York welcomes legendary DJ/Producer Joaquin “Joe” Claussell to hold it down on the turntables. The occasion?  The release of a new album, Hammock House Africa Caribe. Produced and mixed by Claussell, Hammock House Africa Caribe is more than just remixes of Fania’s back catalog.

The album is a stunning two-disc album with each track approached and assembled differently to celebrate its unique qualities while seamlessly transitioning into the next one. The CD features nine classic Fania tunes from Lou Perez, Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Ray Barretto and more all re-worked with the Joe Claussell touch.

The flavor gets a little more awesome if you consider that the roof and the pool will be open (swim suits are optional). Now imagine Rich Medina and some other special guests will be in the house and you got yourself an official throwdown!

Doors open at 8pm with the party running through midnight. Le Bain is located at 444 W. 13th Street. If you haven’t heard a true House set by Claussell yet, check out an old podcast show of his Montreal event in 2006 with a killer opening Cuban invocation track to get the party started right.
