The Standard: Tell us a bit about your background, and what you do at the Standard?

Megan: I’m originally from Spokane, WA also known as “The Can”, “Spok-a-vegas” and/or “Spokompton”. Don’t ask, but I do think it is quite impressive to have one nickname let alone 3 dedicated to it! Ok…ok, the names themselves are less than desirable but if I had to pick my fave, it’s “The Can”.

I left “The Can”, moved to NYC and started my career in modeling which took me around the world and back. I’ve had the pleasure to work with some of fashion’s finest. It all ended when I gained an ounce in one of my fingers. Middle left to be exact. So, I looked elsewhere and found my place at The Standard. I’ve been here since the beginning, a true O.G. (original gangsta). I’m currently working as a Concierge.

What’s your favorite secret spot in New York?

One of my secret spots is not glamorous at all. Being in NYC for almost 10 years, I have a few but one of my go-to’s, if you will, is Village Yogurt. It’s a hole in the wall ma & pa shop that serves the best veggie dumplings and steamed veggies. It’s served on a tray with a paper plate and plastic utensils. He also gives you some sesame oil to sprinkle on your food…..delish! The cookies which are baked fresh are some of the best in the city!

What’s one of your most memorable moments in the building?

One of my most memorable moments in the hotel? Wow, that’s a loaded question and given this might be quoted I plead the 5th. That being said we did have this guest who had been wreaking havoc on the whole hotel. I must admit some of it was very funny and entertaining until you have to personally help her pack to expedite the checking out process. Long story short, I was a therapist, a professional packer, a friend, a confidant, peacemaker, personal stylist and an audience. Very funny.

What was the last song you downloaded?

Last song was actually an album by The Heartless Bastards called, “The Mountain”.
