KCRW, the recognized tastemaker for music in Los Angeles, has decided to make the summer just that much better with their Summer Nights series. They’ve pretty much got the city covered in free concerts so there’s no excuse not to check one out.
Westwood: Every Thursday evening in July, KCRW’s Also I Like to Rock returns to the Hammer Museum courtyard for a series of free, all-ages outdoor concerts featuring. With a line up curated by Buzz Bands L.A., the evenings kick off at 7pm with DJ sets by KCRW’s own musical gurus followed by two band performances. As an added bonus, The Hammer’s galleries will be open until 9pm.

Santa Monica: Also held on Thursdays, the Twilight Dance Series has been a fixture on the Santa Monica Pier since 1983. Beginning July 7th, KCRW is the media sponsor for 10 free concerts on the deck of the Santa Monica Pier every Thursday evening through September 8th. Each night will be introduced by a KCRW on-air host, and showcase a different musical theme with artists from all over the world. The July 14th concert features The Bangles!

Downtown: This summer, KCRW is presenting two great Grand Performance concerts in the California Plaza on Grand Street with KCRW DJs introducing each show. July 15th’s concert with Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 hosted by KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad is not to be missed.
