It’s 4th of July weekend. By all means, go find a body of water somewhere (Pool Side at The Standard, Hollywood perhaps?), throw something delicious on the BBQ, grab a beer, and work on that sunburn. All we’re saying is that maybe you should consider taking a few breaks this weekend. You know, get yourself in some air conditioning, something sweet to munch on, and maybe see a few good movies. We don’t mean the latest blockbuster, come on, that’s not our style. Nope, we have a much much better suggestion. This weekend, those wacky cinematic geniuses at Everything Is Terrible have partnered up with one of our besties, The Cinefamily, to bring you The 2nd Annual Everything Is Festival!

The festival begins today and includes “keynote” speaker Mark Hosler from Negativland, Andrew W.K. delivering his legendary motivational speech, a tribute to the Firesign Theatre, Neil Hamburger dipping into his personal collection of obscure TV specials made by a 70-year-old grandmother, a group show of video mash-up insanity (co-curated by Four Four, and including contributors ranging from TV Carnage to Rob Schrab), a Conan O’Brien writers retrospective, a closing 4th of July BBQ featuring Joe Dante’s epic 1969 four-hour found footage legend The Movie Orgy and much, much more.
We’re especially looking forward to tonight’s event with culinary puppeteer Thu Tran from the hit IFC series “Food Party” and Sunday’s showing of Raiders of the Lost Arc: The Adaptation, a shot-for-shot remake of the Spielberg classic done by 12 year olds.
( Great BBC news story on the makers of Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation!)
The Cinefamily’s 2nd Annual Everything Is Festival is Co-presented by Everything is Terrible, The Standard, Hollywood, and Indie Printing and runs from June 30 - July 4th
