What happens if two geniuses collaborate? “They give birth to pure Magic” says the Starman, our curator for Song of the Week. Last week James Blake released the brand new track “Fall Creek Boys Choir” (featuring Bon Iver). According to the press release, it reads “over the past year James had cited Justin as a key influence and it was via a chance meeting at this years SXSW festival in Austin, Texas that the seed was sown for a future collaboration.” In other words, it was meant to happen.

Iver’s distorted voice over Blakes down tempo beat (influenced by dubstep) in addition to the great Dog bark, harmonises greatly with each other as if those different influences were supposed to form this warm sound.
It has just been reported that this track will be part of Blake’s latest EP Enough Thunder, which will be released on October 10 on Atlas. It will include a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You”, and four other Blake originals that have not been named yet. Fall Creek Boys Choir by James Blake & Bon Iver is available now on iTunes.
