Jeff Canham Edition at The Shop at The Standard, NY

Oct 03 2011

San Francisco artist, Jeff Canham will be featured at The Shop at The Standard, New York as part of our ongoing series of artist editions which have included talent like Anthony Lister and Julia Chiang. We’ve admired Jeff’s work for a long time, from textile design with our friends at ZED Surf In Byron Bay Australia to The Mollusk surf shops and this cool piece using rocks.

We asked him if he’d be interested in creating a series of hand-painted canvas flags and pennants, and he turned around and created an entire alphabet just for The Standard. “I’m interested in exploring the various ways language, and in particular phrases and idioms, can be conveyed and interpreted. My work often combines text with graphic elements and in this case the text is coded in such a way that it becomes the graphic element” Jeff explained.

The result is a beautiful collection of 26 original pieces - one representing each letter on the alphabet – each piece is 30” long and will be available for viewing and for sale, starting Thursday, October 6th at The Shop at The Standard, New York. A very limited number will be available for sale on www.ShopTheStandard.com starting the morning of the 6th so mark your calendar!
