It’s another great week for music in Los Angeles and leading the pack is Desert Nights at The Standard, Hollywood! This week, Chris Laterzo will wow you with his cowboy-rock style, Tedd Russell Kamp will give you songs with swagger, and Granville Automatic will move you with their heartfelt lyricism.

Chris Laterzo is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter and recording artist who is in the process of recording his fifth studio album. Originally from Colorado- and with roots in such varying places as Belgium and Massachusetts- Laterzo’s cowboy-rock style of music evokes the spirit of the open road with its romantic lyrics and loping rhythms.

Tedd Russell Kamp, born and raised in the northeast, began his musical education in earnest soon after college during the several years he spent woodshedding in Seattle. He recorded four LPs with his trio Ponticello before relocating to L.A. in 2001, where he formed the group Union Pacific, played with numerous bands, did extensive session work and in 2003 started working with Jennings. Granville Automatic is Vanessa Olivarez and Elizabeth Elkins. The duo write songs pulled from a shared love of history, horses and war. Granville Automatic is named after a 19th-century typewriter: Vanessa is a collector. With sonic references like Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson, Granville Automatic has created a quiet and lyrical sound devoted to telling stories from the past. After writing together first in the spring of 2009, the pair now has more than 80 songs – almost all of which tell stories from history.


What is Desert Nights?

Desert Nights is a weekly gathering at The Standard, Hollywood. Every Wednesday, we curate three acoustic musical acts to perform a set in the Cactus Lounge. The vibe is warm and intimate, evoking an impromptu jam in a musician’s living room. The music begins at 7:30pm.
