Standard Press––our very own imprint––is back with the launch of our second book, Nailed by Chicago-based artist Dzine. The follow up to What Me Worry, by Andrew Kuo, Nailed recounts the history of nail adornment and documents contemporary nail art around the world. With an introduction by Paper co-founder Kim Hastreiter and contributions by Luis Gispert, Yonehara Yasuma, Mickalene Thomas, Jamel Shabaz, Fab 5 Freddy, gorgeous commissioned photography, and naturally, Dzine’s own creations, the book delves into the intimate realm of body decoration, celebrating the once underground, now burgeoning nail art movement.

The book is sold exclusively at or at The Standard Shops in LA, NY, and Miami starting December 1st. To celebrate the release The Standard Spa, Miami Beach will host Dzine’s Imperial Nails, presented by Perrier, a site-specific, custom nail project held over Art Basel Miami Beach. Inspired by his mother’s home nail salon in the 1970’s, Imperial Nails, Presented by Perrier, will be part nail salon, part installation, part social sculpture. During Art Basel (11/30-12/5) nail appointments will be by invite only, but will be open to the public from 12/10-12/18, Saturdays and Sundays.

We’ll never look at manicures in quite the same way again.
