As two of our favorites, Dr. Dre and 2PAC, once noted, it’s all about California Love. With that in mind, we are happy to present Valentine’s day at The Standards, Hollywood and Downtown LA. Both hotels have engineered VDay events that will get your love soaring and your juices flowing.

It’ll be sexy time all night long at The Standard, Hollywood. The Standard, Hollywood has partnered with Artillery to bring you a night of Love, Lust & Longing: A Literary Celebration of St. Valentine’s Day. The evening begins with a wine reception at 7pm, just to set the mood. At 8pm, love and sex will be in the air with hot and heavy readings by poets Ezrha Jean Black, Sophie Sills, Zak Smith, and John Tottenham.

For the second year running, The Standard, Downtown LA is offering a romantic couples package which pairs accommodations with champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries on arrival and breakfast in bed for two delivered to your door by room service. It’s available now through February 18th - book now to have the top choice of rooms!

This Friday, Saturday and again on Valentine’s Day (but of course) our four course prix fixe menu will be offered for dinner at $45 a pop. The meal will start with an oyster amuse bouche for everyone, and we all know what that means…Make your reservations here for the weekend or VDay!

Even though we’re pretty in love with love, we know that this holiday isn’t for everyone. Check out our picks of alternative activities for those who are over it:

1. Nerd Alert! Meltdown Comics is having a magic show (and yes, there will be clowns and jugglers, too) & The Discovery Science Center has an ongoing Star Wars exhibit.

2. Have your own little pity party: See a movie by yourself, on Valentine’s Day. The Egyptian Theater is playing Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

3. Forget love, just have sex. The Cinefamily is showing “The 100 Most Outrageous Fucks” (NSFW in a major way)
