We always thought boo was just a cute term of affection, but leave it to artist/actor/jewler/oft-patron-of-The-Standards, Waris Ahluwalia, of House of Waris, to delve into the etymological origins. It’s an appropriation of the French Beau, meaning beautiful or handsome, or when referring to a romantic admirer,i.e. “my beau.”

With that in mind, Waris created a special jewelry line spelling the word, Boo, in a delicate script, available as a necklace, bracelet or earrings. It’s a pretty perfect way to acknowledge your ‘Boo’. You can head to the Shop at The Standard NYC to pick yours up before the big day of love. (Or in Paris at Colette and The Webster in Miami.) We celebrated the collection last night at the Top of The Standard with special performances by Spank Rock, Blood Orange, and Solange Knowles.
