And so it begins … The spectacle! The pageantry! The week-long hangover! Here’s everything (or almost) you need to know about New York Fashion Week …
Our famed den of iniquity came back with a BOOM last night as our loyal family gathered together to air kiss each other across the room while MNDR rang in the new year. Well, our new year, at least. If you weren’t there, look here….

Fashion Week just wouldn’t be Fashion Week if it weren’t for the infamous Purple party. (That’s not entirely true, but you get what I’m trying to say, no?) This year, Olivier Zahm and Co. are celebrating their 20th year of cutting edge style, full-frontal nudity and undergroomed models looking effortlessly bored. We’re throwing them a party on Sunday, and I’m pretty sure you’ll be there.

It’s all about the birthdays this season, with Jay Fielden turning 1, Purple turning 20, and Y-3 and Opening Ceremony both turning 10. The downtown mecca for all things Fa-SHUN is throwing a party Sunday and blowing out all the candles.

If you don’t know about Diana Vreeland, you need to read D.V. immediately. But even if you never learned to read, there’s hope for you yet, as the beloved queen of mid-century couture is the subject of a powerful new documentary focusing on the do’s and dont’s of sartorial life. We told you not wear pleats yet. Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel premiers this Saturday.

We wouldn’t be your real friend if we didn’t bring you the latest in Spring fashion. Every day, we’re hosting our favorite designers on the third floor of The Standard, New York, including Erin Fetherston, Katie Gallagher, Houghton and more. And if you’re not afraid of heights, check out Anna Laub’s latest collection for Prism on the rooftop of Le Bain this Saturday.

You’ve been hounding me for years with your issues and concerns, and I’ve been doling out my wisdom to you privately because that’s what friends are for, right? Well, this week I’m taking your problems public for the benefit of mankind. That’s right: Stan is starting a Fashion Week advice column. Send your pressing questions to Stan@StandardHotel.com and I’ll answer them here in my next dispatch. Or not, but it’s worth a try.

You’ve learned to filter your words by now, but what about your pics? All this week and next, add the hashtag #StandardFW to your Instagram photos so we can see what you’re up to. And make it snappy!
