The Standard is Your NYC Wine & Food Festival HQ

Foodies, oenophiles and all who make food on television are assembling this weekend for the fifth annual New York City Wine and Food Festival; and wouldn’t you know it, The Standard, High Line is ground zero, official hotel sponsor and Central HQ. It’s going to be a long weekend of gastronomique delights so read carefully. There are still tickets available to some of these fantastic events, but not for long!

FRIDAY

Martha’s coming! She’s hosting her live radio show in the lobby. Will her friend Snoop surprise her? Maybe … See below.

  1. What: The Butcher, The Baker, The Candle Stick Maker Panel: Go behind the swinging door with the industries top restaurateurs to learn about the tricks of the trade. Presented by Bullfrog & Baum
  2. Who’s Going: People in the biz. Kind of an industry thing.
  3. When & Where: High Line Room 11am-12pm

  5. What: The one, the only Ms. Martha Stewart will be hosting her morning radio show, live from The Living Room.
  6. Who’s Going: A bunch of her chef friends will be stopping by for interviews. Snoop’s probably gonna be a decline. Sorry for the bait and switch.

SATURDAY

They’re cracking a bottle that’s been aging since 1929, one of Gerard Bertrand’s Legends. See details below.

  2. Who’s Going: Power foodies

  5. What: Gerard Bertrand Legend Vintages, Six Decades of Sweet Stories Wine Seminars
  6. Who’s Going: People who want to try some incredibly old wine including a 1929 Maury.

  9. What: The Lobster Place presents: The Oyster Bash
  10. Who’s Going: The Cooking Channel’s Ben Sargent is hosting. People who chuck.

SUNDAY

Oh, there will be Merlot. Merlot and Ping Pong.

  1. What: First Annual NYCWFF Ping-Pong Invitational
  2. Who’s Going: Teams from Tertulia, Craft, The Spotted Pig, The Standard Grill, B&B, Telepan, Ardesia, Casa, & Dragaones. (Probably will see some of our SPiN friends too, since we’re opening up a club together in LA.)
  3. Where: The Standard Biergarten 3-5pm

  4. Tickets & Info: It’s open to the public, but you are best show up early.

  5. What: Duckhorn Wine Seminar
  6. Who’s Going: For those who are drinking Merlot, this vineyard is pretty much responsible for the Merlot trend in the U.S.
  7. When & Where: High Line Room 5-6:30pm

  9. What: Undiscovered Bordeaux hosted by Ray Isle. It’s the most famous wine region in the world, but there is plenty to discover.
  10. Who’s Going: Food & Wine’s executive wine editor Ray Isle
